Facail Hair Removal – Spots?
I suffer from dark facial hair and have just started waxing after years of bleaching. I’m using Nads Facial Hair Removal Strips and they work well at getting the hair out but the next day I get bad spots, like white heads, all over the area I have waxed. By the time the spots have gone the hair has started to grow back. I have spoken to a beauty therapist in my local salon who told me that this will stop happening after once I have waxed a few more times and my skin has got used to it, she also recommended using witch hazel to cleanse the skin after waxing and to not but any lotion / cream on the area for 24 hours to keep the pores clear. I did this but still got the spots! Grrrrrrrr! I’d like to keep waxing as the hair with gradually come back thinner but I don’t want the spots, any suggestions? Please Help!
I had the same problem the one time I tried getting my upper lip waxed – it was so not worth it! My facialist advised me to apply over-the-counter steroid cream to reduce the redness, and it did seem to help a little. I’ve also heard that threading is a superior method of hair removal, although it isn’t easy to find salons/spas that do it (here in Los Angeles, you can get it done at Enessa). I also agree with the other people who suggested applying cold water immediately after waxing to soothe the skin and close the pores. It might also help to soften the skin a bit by moisturizing well before applying the wax. The drier your skin is, the more irritated it will get.
