protein packs???
i thought protein packs are supposed to strengthen ur hair and prevent/help with breakage and slipt ends. however i also heard that they try ur hair out. im really confused because isnt dryer hair easier to break? then how are protein packs supposed to help with reconstructing damaged hair?
ps. if anyone has any experience with protein packs, could you please recommend a brand? thank you so much!
Your hair is made up of proteins, called keratin. Protein packs serve to repair damaged hair and restore strength. They dry out your hair if done often. Protein treatments should only be done about every six weeks. If done back to back, which is a protein overload, they can begin make the hard, creating the illusion of dryness and break the hair off. Once a week deep condition with a moisturizing deep conditioner and every six weeks use a protein pak.
I like organic root stimulator protein paks (Olive Oil replenishing pak, thats the name on the package). I have a lot of hair so I use about four paks. I usually mix mine with a few tablespoons of olive oil for the extra moisture. You can find this in the black hair section at any drugstore, walmart, and/or target. Sally’s sells them also. They range in price from $1.18-1.38 per pak.
Organic root stimulator also makes one called hair mayo: $5.00
Aphogee two minute reconstructer is the BEST. These are sold at Sally’s, don’t know the price though.
You could also do your own using these recipes:
1egg white
5tblspn plain yougurt
beat the egg white until foamy add the yogurt. Apply to hair in sections for even coverage. Leave on for fifteen minutes (put on shower cap sit under dryer or hot wet towel twisted around head) rinse out and follow up with moisture deep conditioner
