Is it ok to put hydrocortisone cream on my cat to stop him from itching?
My cat Bleau constantly scratches, bites and licks himself to the point where he is actually losing his hair. I feel so sorry for him. I have tried Advantage, Revolution and other spot on products, powders, and shampoos, and sprays, but nothing seems to work. My family calls him the owl-cat because he can darn near turn his head around 360 degrees to lick off anything that I put on him. He’s starting to look like a balding, stray cat. I put the hydrocortisone cream on the bald spots and it seems to have given him some relief from scratching but I am worried if it may eventually make him sick. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
You need to take Bleau to the vets as he probably needs a cortisone injection to stop his itching. You shouldn’t put any cream not prescibed by a vet, on a cat as it does no good and it could eventually make the cat ill.Putting all those different things on him and shampooing him too will have made his condition worse and licking himself bald the poor cat must be very irritated.
Take him as soon as you can, only a vet can help him.
