Is it illegal to threaten someone over texting?
This annoying girl at my school has threaten my friends over 15 times.
She’s saying stuff like
“I’M GONNA KILL YOU”
“WHEN WE GET BACK TO SCHOOL I’M GOING TO GRAB YOU BY YOUR HAIR AND SLAM YOUR FACE AGAINST YOUR DESK”
“SHUTUP OR I’M GONNA BEAT THE FUCK OUTTA YOU”
etcetc.
It’s a little obvious that she won’t actually act on these threats, she’s really short and skinny, and overall a wimp. && whenever we tell her that we’re gonna go tell a teacher or something, her excuse it that she was “mad at the time, && obviously would never do it”.
She’s never said these threats in person, it’s always over myspace/facebook/texts/etc.
Me && my friends are going to this police officer that works in my school tomorrow.
How much trouble can this girl get in?
If you’re in the UK…
You could go to the police as this can constitute common law assault although there are a few flaws in that argument. You could claim harassment which the police can also deal with (evidence of two or more occasions is all they need), and for either offence you can claim damages. There is a chance the police will not do anything however and dismiss it as childish games.
If only I knew what I know now when I was at school.
