can a hair follicle drug test detect marijuana from 5 years ago?
I might get this job, and the manager asked me if I could pass a follicle drug test that went back 5 years. I never smoked regularly, in fact maybe only 2-3 times my whole life. The last time I smoked was almost exactly 3 1/2 years ago. From what I’ve read online the very longest the tests go back is usually 3 years. Also my hair is about 24-26 inches long, so there is 3 1/2 year old growth on my head. Someone help me please!
They can see drugs as far back as your hair is long. Most facilities will only test 90days, some will test longer and it also depends on what the test is for. But, if the whole length of the hair is tested, yes, they can see drug use that entire time.
I suggest you calculate how fast your hair grows (average is half an inch a month, but mine is about 1/4 inch a month), and cut your hair to make sure it is not longer than 3 years worth of growth.
There is also some research about how hair dye/bleach can remove the thc from the hair, so if you regularly color treat your hair, you may not have anything to worry about anyways.
