Hair Color Help for Dummies?
I finally made the decision to die my hair and I was excited. I went and picked out a Garnier Nutrisse Pomegranate (shade of red to use on my light brown hair) But man, when I pulled out the directions, I feel like I’m gonna mess up and my hair will end up turning up some ghastly shade (which is not ideal, since everyone at school would stare at me like I was crazy) It’s my first time doing this, and does anyone who’s used this shade or done this before have any tips? I never mess much with my hair, but I want to do this right so I won’t look like a screwup…can’t you just smooth the “solution” through your hair like shampoo or something so long as you don’t miss the roots?
if you have never dyed your hair before, have someone help you- it can get messy!
apply vasiline or conditioner around your scalp and back of the neck so you don’t dye your skin!
start at the roots first and then work ur way down. the ends are dryer and will soak up the color faster. let it sit for however long the box says, don’t be afraid to do spot checks to test the color.
wash out and condition it with the enclosed conditioner.
at home color is always risky- i would try a level two at first instead of a permanent. if the color is more than 2-3 shades different than your natural i would return the color and not even risk it- you should go to the salon if you want to do anything more than a simple tint
