How do you die your top layers at home without getting the dye on the length of your hair?

Except just the cut not the style 
Needed:
Hair dye
OLD shower cap
OK start by separating the hair you don’t want died and the hair you do clip back the hair you dont want died. get the die ready ( read directions) good idea to use an old shower cap and cover the bit you dont want died then tie it with your bobble/gogo
then just simply apply it and let sit for right amount of time the rinse out take shower cap away and dry.
